Busy Philipps and Michelle Williams were one of the mainstays of the red carpet this awards season. The friends, who have known each other since their Dawson’s Creek days, attended this year’s Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Academy Awards on each other’s arms and often spoke of their deep bond. At the Daily Front Row Fashion L.A. Awards Monday, Philipps said that her longtime friendship with Williams began with “cheap wine,” per Us Weekly.

“From sharing cheap wine to Michelle's well-deserved fourth Oscar nomination to all the personal work that we've put in to be the women that we are today,” she began, recalling her fist memories with her pal and fellow actress.

At the premiere of her film Manchester by the Sea in December 2016, Williams spoke of her affection for Philipps, whom she called “the love of [her] life.”

“I’m so in love with her,” she said about Philipps, who was her date for the event. “She’s proof that the love of your life does not have to be a man! That’s the love of my life right there.”

It was Philipps, too, who sat next to Williams in the front row of the Dolby Theatre during the now-infamous best-picture blunder. In his monologue the next day, The Late Late Show host James Corden joked that the friends looked as if they had “just found out Beyoncé’s not performing at Coachella.”

Despite all the commotion that night, they still managed to take an “obligatory bathroom selfie”:

At Monday night’s awards, Philipps said that Williams’s friendship is one of the things that, above all else, she values most.

“You just have to focus on what's really important in life, and that's your friends and your family, and the life that you build,” she said.
