Kicking Back With My Dogs, An Exclusive Film by Bruce Weber

“One of the best times I remember spending with my dad was when we went shopping together for a dog in New York City,” recalls Bruce Weber in the short film, Kicking Back with My Dogs, (created exclusively for Yahoo Style). The iconic lensman’s love of animals has stayed true from his days as a young man growing up in Pennsylvania throughout his storied career as one of the greatest photographers of all time. And while Weber is widely recognized for his incredible imagery of models, landscapes, and indie films about Chet Baker and amateur boxers, it was only appropriate that his coterie of Golden Retrievers take center stage for this production since it celebrates his latest creative endeavor: a collaboration with Shinola for their debut line of doggy accessories. The Shinola Pet collection includes collars, beds, and toys that were designed in tandem with Weber and the brand’s Detroit-based design team. One hundred percent made in America, and partially produced with The Empowerment Plan—a local Detroit organization that trains women from local shelters sewing and other manufacturing skills—it is a very noteworthy, feel-good operation that will leave your dog’s tail a’wagging. But don’t take our word for it. Watch this wistful summer-loving homage created by Weber and his incredible team in which he espouses the wisdoms of why these lovely four-legged creatures are so special, and how to even engage your furry friend to help find a significant other. “There is always something so magical that happens when people are with a dog,” he says.

Shinola Pet accessories are available now in all Shinola stores (Detroit, NYC, Minneapolis) as well as Shinola.com. The collection ranges in price from $12 to 230
