After Brie Larson appeared on BBC’s The One Show on Wednesday night, the Internet’s fashion police were quick to call her look a fail. The actress, along with King Kong: Skull Island co-stars Tom Hiddleston and Samuel L. Jackson, were on the talk show to promote the upcoming feature, and viewers couldn’t seem to handle the idea of a woman flaunting her assets on television.

Detractors fired off tweets directed at Larson and the program, chastising her for her low neckline and essentially telling her to put some clothes on. “Ummm that’s quite a lot of breast for 7pm on a Wednesday,” wrote one man. “No1 told Brie Larson #TheOneShow is on at 7pm?! Surprised @BBC or @BBCTheOneShow dont have a dress code for guests,” agreed another person.

She also had plenty of defenders, with fans reminding people “it’s only skin.” If there’s one way to describe 2017, it’s a bunch of strangers fighting over the Internet about what a woman chooses to do with her body.

This isn’t the first time that The One Show fans have gotten dramatic over a woman’s choice of outfit. As the Evening Standard points out, Rita Ora and Perrie Edwards have both drawn viewer criticism for ostensibly “revealing” outfits.

Ora’s low-cut suit jacket even caused enough of a ruckus that a spokesperson for the show had to weigh in. “‘The One Show allows guests to choose their own attire and pop stars often opt for something glamorous or striking. We didn’t feel that Rita’s outfit would be outside of most viewers’ expectations of that of a major pop star, but we appreciate that tastes vary,” the statement read.

More recently, Oscars viewers body-shamed Mandi Gosling, who sat front row as her brother Ryan Gosling’s date for the evening, for choosing to wear a plunging neckline. “Has anyone made a Twitter account for Ryan’s sisters’ b00bs yet?” a viewer “joked.” One publication’s headline read “Ryan Gosling Took His Sister and Her B00bs to the Oscars And Everyone Lost Their S***.” Instead of celebrating or shaming women’s bodies, how about we just leave it alone instead?
