Nothing says love quite like a bouquet of… doughnuts? Sydney bride Paige Kirk surprised her bridesmaids on Saturday, September 9, when she orchestrated a last-minute swap with creatively-assembled bouquets of powdered pastries right before the walk down the aisle.

“Me and my husband, Steven, thought it would be different, fun and lighthearted,” the 23-year-old bride told the BBC of the unusual decision. “Everyone thought it was hilarious, and the venue couldn’t believe it. Brides should be a bit more relaxed and have fun!”

Kirk’s three bridesmaids also walked down the aisle with their own bunched bouquets. Dessert Boxes, the company behind the designs, shared a video to Instagram of the bride’s besties cracking up as Kirk swaps out their flower bouquets just moments before the ceremony.

“Can we eat them?” one bridesmaid asked the bride. Other brides have previously departed from the idea of traditional bouquets in the past, opting instead for unique ideas like puppy “bouquets” (yes, really!) and Olive Garden breadsticks taking their turns down the aisle.

The moment that the Bride told the bridesmaids that they’ll be walking down the aisle with donut bouquets!

According to the BBC, Paige and Steven have known each other for five years, and been together for three. “We wanted the wedding to be a bit different and really reflect who we are as a couple,” she told the news outlet of their joint decision to get a little creative with their big day.

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of their wedding day, however, was that despite the scrumptious-looking nature of the bouquets, no one ate the doughnuts that day.

“We had plenty of goodies beforehand so we were too full to eat them,” she explained.
