You Need To Make Brazilian Lemonade Immediately

From Delish

You've never tried lemonade like this, largely because there's no lemon in it.

None.

And yet, it's called lemonade. But despite the glaring misnomer, you're going to love it. Pinky promise.

The drink is called Brazilian Lemonade, and it turns everything you know about lemonade on its head. Instead of lemons, it's made with whole limes, blended to create an icy limeade with a smooth, creamy finish, thanks to a few tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk.

Yup, sweetened condensed milk. It mellows out the tartness of the limes, so you're left with a zesty, refreshing drink that has a kick but doesn't make your lips pucker. It's basically key lime pie in a glass.

Whipping up a batch couldn't be easier, either: You just follow the rule of threes. Chop off the ends of 3 limes, pour in a third of a cup of sugar, 3 cups of water, 3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk (use the rest of the can to make a citrusy sunshine pie) and blend it until it's smooth. Strain the whole mixture to extract the peel and pulp from the limes and serve. Dunzo.

Tossing in whole limes tends to be the unofficial protocol for making Brazilian Lemonade, but if you're not big on straining-and you prefer more of a slushy-like consistency-you could always use the juice of four limes instead. (I recommend adding a little extra lime if you're going juice-only.)

From there, the opportunities are endless:

  • Spike it with a shot of tequila

  • Blend in a handful of strawberries

  • Freeze it into ice pops

  • Create a Brazilian Lemonade-Mimosa: Pour half Champagne, half Brazilian Lemonade into a flute glass and toast to your awesomeness.
