There were shops for everything: Sterling silver peinetas, beautiful silk dresses, men and women’s shoes made of smooth Cordovan leather and linen, and hats. She went with her father to Sombreros Maquedano, where since 1908, the finest hats in all Andalusia were sold. When the clerk gently placed a wide-brimmed Sombrero Andaluces on her father’s head she exclaimed: “Oh, Papa, it’s just the right color.
