The long way down: Flickr photo of the day

Michael Clemmer

American speleologist Erin Lynch looks down through the clouds of Cloud Ladder Hall, near Quankou Dong, China. The massive underground room covers 16 acres and its ceiling is 1,200 feet high; high enough to accommodate its own cloud system.

Special credit must be given to photographer Robbie Shone, who himself was suspended by a small rope, almost 800 feet above the cave floor, and who still had nerve left to make this scary photograph.
