There can be issues with snow, like Sochi turning into a slushie for the Olympics and blizzards in the United States. But then there are places where snow, and lots of it, is just life, like Lapland.
This couple, out for a jaunt while wearing snowshoes, live with snow 220 days a year. Photographed near Ylläs, Äkäslompolo, Lapland, their issue isn’t snow -- it’s daylight. Located well north of the Arctic Circle, Ylläs is blessed if it gets four hours of light a day during the winter months. And it’s cold! Minus 37 degrees Fahrenheit isn’t unheard of.
