Beyoncé Promotes Fashionable UV Protection in Her Long-Sleeved Swimsuit

Beyoncé might be flawless, but even perfect specimens require rest and rejuvenation. Taking a break from the Formation World Tour, the singer recently jetted off to Hawaii with her husband, Jay Z, and daughter, Blue Ivy.

Because Queen B is far from your average beach bum (or, just person in general), it comes as little surprise that the Lemonade artist would select swimwear that’s as far from basic as you can get. Wearing a one-piece printed Cia Maritima bodysuit with cutouts at the sides, she accessorized with cat-eye Tom Ford sunglasses, a billowy yellow cover-up, a lemon-festooned crown, and matching necklace. Not only is #BeyonceAlwaysOnBeat, she’s also #AlwaysOnBrand.

While one-pieces are all the rage these days, Bey’s is kind of confusing. At first, it seems like a simple surfer’s rash guard swimsuit, but then again, the cutouts kind of defeat the purpose. Also, Beyoncé doesn’t appear to be surfing in any of the vacation images shared on beyonce.com, but perhaps she was posing with a mai tai while waiting for a lesson?

Alternate explanation? This is just a long-sleeved swimsuit, which isn’t completely unheard of — they’re especially great for sun protection — but still, an interesting choice (especially considering Hawaii isn’t exactly chilly).

Yet perhaps Bey is trying to add momentum to the fashionable UV protection trend. According to Polyvore, searches for long-sleeved one-piece swimsuits have increased 88 percent compared to last year. Time will tell if they continue to climb in popularity as the summer progresses. But for now, we’ll just enjoy these photos of the pop queen basking, bathing, and looking bodacious in general … and maybe shop for a similar swimsuit while we’re at it.
