Betsey Johnson Created a New Line of Flirty Wedding Accessories

Betsey Johnson just released her new Blue by Betsey Johnson collection, a line of glam and flirty bridal accessories, and, not surprisingly, the designer is approaching her new line with the same dose of whimsy that she does everything else. “We have a good time and a sense of humor comes through,” Johnson tells Yahoo Style. In addition to sparkling shoes and lingerie, the new collection adds bridal jewelry, handbags, and metallic tabletop pieces. “I think the bridal shoes are my favorite shoes because they’re so crazy. They’re the most fun shoes,” she says.

Accessory lovers will appreciate that the handbags are far from traditional. With styles that resemble a bridal bouquet, blushing bride, and a three-tiered wedding cake, brides and even bridesmaids can carry them on the day-of and to pre- and post-wedding parties. “The bags are a riot. The biggest ‘ha ha’ of anything else,” she says.

The lingerie styles vary from crystal embellished tanks and matching boy shorts to wear while getting ready to sheer wedding night styles in white, aquamarine blue, and pale pink.

So who is this tongue-and-cheek bride-to-be? “You never know,” says the designer who has been married four times. She explains that the collection is really for all kinds of girls. “Everyone is so different and on your wedding day you have to dig deep to find out how you want to be,” Betsey says. “Think about who’s coming, what response you’re going to get, your husband to be, and your family.”

So with the expansion into bridal growing, can we expect Betsey Johnson wedding and bridesmaid dresses in the future?

“I would like to do it, but I would like it to be in the $150 to $200 range,” she says. “I think you should have your look for that day and then realize you’re never going to wear it again. Just have fun and be beautiful!”
