Bella Thorne's Double Life: Red Carpets and Homecoming Dances

Bella Thorne isn’t like most other 17-year-olds. On weeknights she’s attending awards ceremonies and walking red carpets instead of quietly studying at home; she jets off to Milan and New York for fashion shows rather than going to the mall; she has a personal trainer instead of going to gym class; and she’s starring in movies and TV shows, not watching them. But just because she’s an atypical teen doesn’t mean she doesn’t have any standard high school experiences and recently the actress attended a Homecoming.

The Blended star is homeschooled — she has said that dyslexia, bullying, and her work schedule have motivated her decision to skip traditional schooling — but was escorted to her on-again off-again boyfriend Tristan Klier’s school dance. Wearing a bubblegum pink Hervé Léger bodycon minidress with Aquazurra heels, she posed for pictures and even took a stretch SUV limo. Wearing a designer dress, smiling for the camera, and taking a fancy car to an event are all aspects of a day in the life of a rising starlet. But while these occurrences are common, there’s still something to be desired about the archetypical high school experiences. On Instagram, where Bella shared photos from the Homecoming dance, she wrote, “A great night that I am so grateful for. Loved making all these memories tonight!”

Bella follows in the footsteps of many famous people that have shed their high-profile personas for a night to partake in school traditions. Elle Fanning, 16, received a promposal and her older sister, Dakota, was a cheerleader throughout high school and was even voted prom queen. Demi Lovato was already a breakout singer and actress in 2010 and still went to prom. Britney Spears rose to fame with “Baby One More Time” before high school graduation but still made it to the final dance. Kobe Bryant took Brandy to his prom in 1996 and Danielle Fishel (aka Topanga on Boy Meets World) went with Lance Bass to hers.

As nearly every John Hughes ‘80s movie proves, school dances aren’t to be missed — even by celebrities.
