Barbie’s Best Outfits In Honor of Her 56th Birthday

Barbie turns 56 today and her everlasting presence continues to be an inspiration to the fashion community. Last season, designer Jeremy Scott based his entire Moschino collection on the plastic bombshell, and in the current issue of Vogue Japan, fashion editor Anna Dello Russo and photographer Ellen von Unwerth transformed Rosie Huntington-Whiteley into a real live version of the doll.

But Barbie’s influence on fashion is nothing new. She has been causing waves ever since she made her debut in 1959 in a black and white striped swimsuit. Her wardrobe has even grown to include designer pieces from the likes of Donatella Versace, Calvin Klein, and Diane von Furstenberg.

Here’s a round up of her most stylish ensembles from over the years. May her plastic fantastic ways live on forever. Happy birthday to you, Barbie!
