Artists Leave Their Studios—in Style—for Frieze Art Fair

The Frieze Art Fair annually pops up in London and New York, offering both art-lovers and novices the chance to experience an expansive array of contemporary art. The combination of high and low, in a range of mediums, from fine photography to performance art, represents the most important work of the year. Currently on display on Randall’s Island, are works ranging from Nan Goldin’s images to a performance by artist Kris Lemsalu, who spent the day face-down under a life-size turtle shell. The VIP crowd at yesterday’s opening party also displayed a spectrum of cool, arty looks. From head-to-toe Celine to an international parade of bespoke suits (some actual works of art), the attendees complemented the artwork.

The fair opens to the public today, with doors open throughout the weekend on Randall’s Island, NY. If you’re in New York, take the Ferry from E. 35th St., check out the Laurie Simmons exhibition, and sit outdoors for a slice of Brooklyn’s favorite Roberta’s Pizza and a beer.
Cheers!
