Anti-Trump Hats and Jackets Take Center Stage at Public School

At New York Fashion Week, the reaction to Donald Trump’s election seems to be everywhere, with designers supporting feminism and Planned Parenthood and sending T-shirts down the runway carrying controversial slogans.

Yahoo Style’s Joe Zee went behind the scenes at MILK studios to view the Public School runway show and spoke to the designers. “Not everyone is comfortable with addressing politics, or anything that feels partisan. I think that was what was a part of the message,” designer Dao-Yi Chow said.

“It’s been a call to action for us for awhile. Now it rings louder and truer than ever. Now it’s so relevant,” designer Maxwell Osborne explained. “That’s our voices, right? … Everybody else has their voice. If you’re a news anchor you speak, if you’re a fashion designer you put it on the runway, and that’s our voice.”
