Alongside mascara and a good lippie, we believe that a quick dab of concealer can make a world of difference.

But come noon, and we find that our concealer often creases and settles into fine lines.

So we were all ears when Adele's makeup artist Michael Ashton revealed his top tip for applying coverage under the eyes.

Speaking to The Cut, Michael revealed that a lot of us actually make a mistake by applying powder on top of concealer.

Instead, you should apply eyeshadow primer underneath your eyes to make your concealer last longer and stay in place.

'Dusting powder on top of concealer can cause creasing,' he explains.

'Prepping concealer with a primer first does not.'

Michael recommends the Marc Jacobs Coconut Eye Primer, though this isn't currently available in the UK.

However, we're sure you can achieve a finish that's just as effective with your own eyeshadow primer of choice.

Plus, if anybody can make an eyeliner flick look as good as Michael does, it's worth taking note…
