How to Go Monochromatic Like Rihanna, Blake Lively & More

On Tuesday, Avengers: Age of Ultron star Elizabeth Olsen was spotted leaving her New York City hotel in a chic orange monochrome ensemble. The actress paired her orange suede coat from The Row (it’s good to have sisters who are designers!) with simple a silk shirt and cropped fitted trousers. This look really stood out for its color choice and it got us to thinking about other celebs that are opting for a single hue these days. Blake Lively wore a full pink outfit from Cushnie et Ochs while promoting her film Age of Adaline, and recently Rihanna sported a head-to-toe pink look from Pascal for a taping of Good Morning America. Want a totally tonal look like these ladies? Here’s how you do it.

1. Experiment with different textures and fabrics.

If you’re going for a simple shirt and trouser go for textured outwear like this moto jacket, it’ll give the outfit an added bit of oomph.

To give the overall look a bit of dimension, make sure that you experiment with different proportions. For example if you decide on a fitted dress opt for an overcoat that is a bit boxier so it’s not one singular silhouette.
