Why Josh Allen won’t struggle with Denver elevation vs. Broncos
Whenever a game at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver comes across the schedule, it’s the same old story. But the elevation change is legitimate and the name “Mile High” is accurate.
Denver is known for its elevation, especially in comparison to other NFL cities. The elevation and change in altitude is certainly felt by athletes who aren’t used to playing in the area because of the lower oxygen levels in the air. The lungs feel it.
While he’s currently not playing in such conditions in Buffalo, there’s at least one player on the Bills that’s probably not going to have a problem making the adjustment because he’s done it before – and then some.
Bills quarterback Josh Allen took the scenic route to the NFL, playing at the University of Wyoming. There, the elevation is actually much higher than Denver, even. WGR-550 Bills reporter Sal Capaccio brought that point up earlier this week:
The elevation of Laramie, Wyoming (7,165') where Josh Allen played QB in college, is 1,885 feet higher than Denver, Colorado (5,280') where the Bills play Saturday.

In fact, Wyoming’s Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium is even higher, at 7,220 feet. Maybe Allen has a couple of pointers for some of his teammates on how to handle the conditions?
At a minimum, head coach Sean McDermott pointed out earlier this week that the Bills are heading out to Denver on Friday. The team will have at least a day to adjust to the change.
