Watch: 'Missing football,' Steelers' JuJu Smith-Schuster plays pickup in a mall

NFL players are enjoying some much-needed downtime. Nearly all are still working out, whether getting stronger or more agile or working on their speed, but they aren’t required to be back at their respective team facilities for weeks.

At least one player, however, was itching to play and found a pickup game.

‘Really missing football’

Pittsburgh Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, who has quickly gained a following for not just his stats – in his second season, he led his team with 111 catches for 1,426 yards – but also his sunny demeanor and man-of-the-people approachability, was back at it again over the weekend.

The 22-year-old posted a short video on his social media feeds on Sunday evening, writing, “I’ve been really missing football, so I went and played in a mall.”

It’s unclear which mall Smith-Schuster went to, and the quarterback wearing one of his jerseys makes us wonder if the game was impromptu, but how great is it to be 15 or 16 cruising the mall with friends and jump into a pickup game one of the NFL’s brightest young stars?

Though, in the future, probably best not to throw so close to the glass storefront.
