The Boston Celtics might have struck gold when they drafted Israeli floor general Yam Madar 47th overall in the 2020 NBA draft. The Beit Dagan native continues to electrify audiences while playing for his overseas team Hapoel Tel Aviv.
The Celtics draftee most recently produced 16 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and a block in 33 minutes against Israeli Premier Basketball League foe Bnei Herzliya, helping his club to a 99-89 win. It tied Madar’s season high for assists, flashing the sort of playmaking ability Boston can use in spades at the moment.
While the Israeli point guard may not be able to get to the NBA until the season after next — he is in the midst of a contract dispute with his team — that the Celtics have this kind of prospect in the pipeline is an exciting development.
