Updated NFL mock draft has Will Anderson nearly slipping out of top five

The 2023 NFL draft class has been headlined by four very intriguing quarterback prospects, but Will Anderson Jr. of the Alabama Crimson Tide might be one of the best defensive players to enter the draft in recent years.

Heading into the 2022 college football season, many thought that Anderson would wind up being the first pick in this draft, but the positional need for a quarterback is just too strong this year.

In an updated NFL mock draft by PFF College, Bryce Young will be the second quarterback off the board to the Houston Texans as the Carolina Panthers select C.J. Stroud first overall. Houston would be an outstanding fit for Young as they have a very manageable division and a solid foundation.

Things get interesting later though as the Detroit Lions trade up to No. 3 to land Florida’s Anthony Richardson, another QB off the board. Surprisingly, this mock has the Colts taking a defensive back at No. 4 which allows Anderson to slide to the Seattle Seahawks at pick No. 5. The Seahawks have had some of the strongest defenses in the NFL over the past decade, so this would be a great spot for the Nagurski Trophy winner to end up.
