PETE THAMEL: This is Pete Thamel, college football reporter for Yahoo Sports. Taking a look at what's next in the college football landscape. As the college football season slowly disintegrates in front of us this week, there's one question that nobody has the answers to. What's next?

I spoke to a half dozen college coaches Sunday night, and the one thing that they were most fearful of, as the fall of the 2020 college football season appears inevitable, is that they're going to stand in front of their teams this week and not be able to give concise answers to really important questions. Are we playing in the spring? What happens with scholarships? Can seniors stay for another year?

Will scholarship limitations at 85 and programs be expanded to accommodate that? There's really no clear and concise answers right now in terms of eligibility and in terms of where things go. And college football leaders, it's very clear, have abdicated the responsibility to explore contingency options. That's left the sport scrambling.

And it's left-- one coach said it's the players on edge. You can see the anxiety in their bodies. They can see the season collapsing. And they really have no idea what's going to be in store for them in the near future or in the long term future. There's a lot of questions this week, and the answers aren't coming as the NCAA has not given any guidance on scholarships, and conferences have not spent enough time exploring the feasibility of the spring.
