UCLA transfer LB Caleb Johnson eyeing return to Texas

Texas could have a familiar face rejoining the squad via the transfer portal.

UCLA linebacker Caleb Johnson, who attended and played in three games for Texas back in 2019, is once again in the transfer portal. While at UCLA, Johnson posted 89 total tackles, two interceptions, and 5.5 sacks.

Johnson told 247Sports’ Chris Hummer that he has a very good idea of where he’d like to play for this upcoming season.

“Really only considering Miami and Texas. They fit everything I’m looking for. They’ve got great fan bases and locations as a bonus.”

Johnson also expressed that he has a visit to Miami already scheduled, and is looking to work with the Texas staff to schedule one to get him back in Austin in the near future.

If the Longhorns bring back Johnson, they are adding a very experienced player at a position of need as linebacker depth has been somewhat concerning this offseason. Even though his tenure in Texas was brief the first time, Johnson flourished at UCLA starting 17 games in two years.
