Tua Tagovailoa returns vs. Bills after scary head injury left him wobbly

Tua Tagovailoa was briefly sidelined with a head injury, but returned after halftime against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and helped the Miami Dolphins to a 21-19 victory.

The Dolphins quarterback sustained the injury when he fell backward on a shove by Bills linebacker Matt Milano. The back of his head bounced off the turf.

He then stood up on his own, but had trouble walking and fell back to the ground.

He left for the locker room with the assistance of two trainers, and the Dolphins soon announced that he was questionable to return with a head injury. Milano was flagged for roughing the passer on the play. The game was tied at 14-14 when Tagovailoa suffered the injury.

The game went into halftime still tied, and Tagovailoa returned for Miami's opening drive of the second half after the Dolphins announced that he'd passed concussion protocol. He connected with Tyreek Hill on a downfield pass on the first play from scrimmage out of halftime.

Tagovailoa was coming off a career performance with a six-touchdown day in a comeback from a 21-point deficit against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2. The win set up Sunday's showdown against the fellow 2-0 Bills with first place in the AFC East on the line. He started the game completing 8-of-10 pass attempts for 76 yards with a touchdown to River Cracraft prior to his injury.
