Texas now has the No. 2 recruiting class for the 2022 cycle
Texas is riding a wave of momentum on and off the field.
Steve Sarkisian appears to be steering the ship in the right direction throughout his first year on the Forty Acres. Texas currently sits with a 4-1 overall record, which includes 2-0 in Big 12 play.
Prior to the season kicking off, many big-time recruits wanted to wait and see whether Texas would be able to produce results on the field. It helps that the Longhorns have been able to showcase that early on with a touch of creativity on both sides of the ball.
Sarkisian’s ability to dial up mismatches on offense is likely one of the primary reasons he was able to land four-star wide receiver Brenen Thompson on Wednesday evening. The speedy receiver became their highest rated commit for the 2022 cycle and bumped Texas’ recruiting class to No. 2 in the nation, according to 247Sports.

The month of October is a monster one for the Texas football program. They’re expected to host numerous blue-chip recruits from the 2022 and 2023 recruiting classes over the next two weeks.
Five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart and five-star offensive lineman Devon Campbell will attend the Red River Showdown on Oct. 9, while five-star quarterback Arch Manning and several others will be present in Austin for the Oklahoma State game.
It doesn’t look like Sarkisian’s hot streak on the recruiting trail will cool off any time soon.
