Texas Football: Longhorns jump Oklahoma, Texas A&M in 2022 recruiting class rankings

You have to take recruiting class rankings with a grain of salt until national signing day.

At any point, a highly rated prospect could commit to a particular program and skyrocket them in the overall class rankings. It’s essentially a game of see-saw until the classes are finalized.

Regardless, it’s still fun to point out when Texas jumps over their two rivals — Oklahoma and Texas A&M — in the 2022 recruiting class rankings. The three programs have consistently shuffled between each other in the rankings over the last few weeks.

When the Longhorns landed four-star running back Jamarion Miller on Monday, it bumped them to the No. 6 class in the nation for the 2022 cycle according to 247Sports. The Aggies currently sit at No. 7 overall, while Oklahoma dropped to No. 10.

Texas now has 12 commitments within their 2022 class, headlined by four-star quarterback Maalik Murphy and four-star safety Bryan Allen Jr. The group also includes the top two running back prospects from the state of Texas (Jaydon Blue, Jamarion Miller).

First-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staffed appeared to hit it out of the park throughout the busy month of official and unofficial visits in June. It wouldn’t be surprising if Texas lands commitments from a few more recent visitors in the coming weeks.
