Texas extends an offer to 2022 four-star WR Antonio Williams

Texas is now in the mix for one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2022 recruiting class.

It comes as somewhat interesting timing, considering the Longhorns are on the verge of closing out their 2022 class and have several wide receiver targets left on the board.

Although this is purely speculation, it could be a sign that a current commit is leaning towards decommitting, or they feel they’ve lost out on one of their other wide receiver targets.

The Longhorns extended an offer to four-star wide receiver Antonio Williams on Thursday. He’s rated the No. 5 overall prospect from the state of South Carolina for the 2022 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. At wide receiver, he’s listed as the No. 19 prospect in the country.

He was recently selected for the 2022 Under Armour All-America game and has received scholarship offers from numerous Power Five programs. In 2020, the Dutch Fork High School product brought in 51 receptions for 837 yards and eight touchdowns.

At the time, South Carolina and Ole Miss appear to be the favorites to land Williams. He does have an official visit scheduled with Auburn in November, so Texas has time to get him on campus.
