South Bay Lakers guard Mac McClung signs with Bulls

The Chicago Bulls picked up South Bay Lakers guard Mac McClung on a 10-day deal via hardship exemption, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

McClung, an undrafted rookie, signed a training camp deal with the Los Angeles Lakers over the summer and played for the Summer League team, with some minutes in the preseason.

However, the Lakers released him as part of final roster cuts but inked him to a G League contract to keep him in the system.

But because the league is going through a rough situation with health and safety protocols, teams can now sign replacement players to fill in the gaps. The Bulls have dealt with missing several key players, so McClung will help the backcourt.

Through 13 games with South Bay, McClung averaged 19.5 points and 6.2 assists while shooting 47.5% overall and 39.7% from 3-point range.

It’ll be interesting to see if McClung ends up back in L.A. after his 10-day expires.
