Sooners QB Micah Bowens enters transfer portal
Even while the spring semester is just getting fully revved up, the Oklahoma Sooners continue to see more roster turnover. Tuesday saw the Sooners lose yet another reserve player to the portal. QB Micah Bowens entered his name into the portal and will seek a different opportunity elsewhere.
Bowens transferred to Oklahoma from Penn State two years ago after redshirting as a Nittany Lion. He officially has three years of eligibility remaining and is a graduate transfer.

Bowens showcased his mobility and his dual-threat skills in the Sooners’ last two Red/White Games. In the 2021 game, he completed 4-of-5 passes for 26 yards and rushed three times for 25 yards. In the 2022 game, he completed one pass but it turned into a 95-yard touchdown to true freshmen Jayden Gibson. Bowens never saw the field in any meaningful action despite Oklahoma’s desperation for QB answers when starter Dillon Gabriel went down with a concussion in 2022.
They ran a wildcat variant against Texas but chose not to use the most elusive QB on the roster. With him being a west coast kid who grew up in Las Vegas, it’s possible Bowens heads closer to home to try and find a school that will utilize his skills a bit more than Oklahoma did.
