Setting the mood? Raiders lineman wants to go home and 'make some babies' after another loss

Athletes deal with losing in different ways. Some get angry. Some remain defiant. Some just want to go home and “make some babies.”

Uh … What?

Oakland Raiders defensive lineman Bruce Irvin was in no mood to dwell on the team’s 27-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. He had other things on his mind.

The 30-year-old Irvin may have shared too much information with reporters following the loss, saying he planned to go home to his “beautiful wife” so he could “try to make some babies.”

Irvin actually answered questions seriously later in the interview.

It’s surprisingly not the first time an NFL player has made that type of admission. Philadelphia Eagles wideout Jordan Matthews admitted he became a father because there was nothing else to do in Buffalo “except each other.”

Given how poorly the Raiders have played this season, who can blame Irvin? After trading away Khalil Mack right before the season, Oakland is just 1-5. Things got so bad during Sunday’s game that quarterback Derek Carr looked as though he might cry on the field.

It might be safe to assume Carr made that face because he was frustrated, but we’d like to believe it’s because Bruce told the entire team about his postgame plans while the game was still going on.
