RJ Young views Quinn Ewers as 2022 Heisman dark horse

The hype surrounding Quinn Ewers continues to grow as the days pass.

The former five-star played sparingly at Ohio State in his lone season in Columbus. After deciding to forgo his senior season to pursue lucrative NIL deals, Ewers made his way back home to Texas via the transfer portal.

He now has a prime opportunity to earn the starting job over Hudson Card. Ewers will be surrounded by a plethora of weapons in star running back Bijan Robinson and elite receivers Xavier Worthy and Isaiah Neyor.

The job isn’t his yet, but there is a growing belief that he will be given every chance in the world to take the job outright.

Even without having a career passing attempt, playing a snap with Texas, or most importantly winning the starting job yet, Ewers is garnering Heisman hype.

Fox Sports’ RJ Young released his list of players that he thinks will be 2022 Heisman sleepers, and Ewers was one of the players on the list.

The pressure on Ewers seems to continually be growing. While it is understandable due to the fact that he was rated so highly, fans and analysts alike might want to pump the brakes. At least until he wins the job and we have actually seen him throw a pass.

But as you know the hype train keeps chugging along, especially when you wear the burnt orange. Provided that Ewers can come through for the Horns, he would join Ricky Williams and Earl Campbell as the only players to win the Heisman at Texas. More importantly, he would be the first to do it at quarterback.
