Report: Temple is attempting to poach Texas director of recruiting Brandon Harris

Texas is having to make a few changes to their staff this offseason, and another may be on the way.

The first domino to fall was running backs coach Stan Drayton accepting the head coach job at Temple. Shortly after, the Longhorns announced the hiring of Tashard Choice to replace him.

Days later, it was reported that wide receivers coach Andre Coleman would not be retained for the 2022 season. Texas has yet to hire a replacement, but the early favorite appears to be Pitt’s Brennan Marion.

On Tuesday, Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports reported that Temple is now targeting Texas director of recruiting Brandon Harris to become their new director of player personnel.

Drayton seemingly took Harris under his wing at Texas, so it wouldn’t be shocking to see him head to Temple in the near future. However, it would be a big loss for the Longhorns as Harris was widely viewed as a rising star on the recruiting front and in the coaching world.

It’s not the first time that Harris has been approached with a new opportunity. In February, he turned down a job with the Los Angeles Rams. Will his relationship with Drayton sway him away from Austin?

He originally came to Texas via Tom Herman, who hired Harris as an assistant running backs coach for the Longhorns.
