Report: Sixers mentioned as possible Patrick Beverley suitors in trade

The Philadelphia 76ers are still in the process of trying to improve the roster and make it more complete around Joel Embiid and James Harden as they continue on their path toward a title, and therefore, they will still be poking around in order to get to the mountaintop.

The Sixers have a need to improve the bench unit and be sure that they have players for that second group they can count on. The team acquired De’Anthony Melton and Danuel House Jr. thus far in the offseason that figure to be a part of the rotation off the pine.

Another option could be Patrick Beverley. The Utah Jazz acquired the veteran in the Rudy Gobert trade and it seems that the Jazz are going in a different direction toward a rebuild. Beverley has obvious connections in Philadelphia in the form of Harden as well as Daryl Morey from the Houston Rockets days.

Per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the Sixers are mentioned as possible suitors for Beverley, but it’s also unlikely after the Melton trade. Still, never say never in this league.

Per Fischer:

Patrick Beverley also appears to be a strong trade candidate. The former Timberwolves point guard has drawn interest from the Lakers and Heat, sources told B/R. Philadelphia had been mentioned as a potential Beverley suitor, with his past Houston experience and the Sixers’ obvious deep Rockets connections, but it seems unlikely that Beverley would now be Philadelphia-bound after the team acquired De’Anthony Melton on draft night.

Beverley fills a lot of needs for Philadelphia. He plays bigger than his height, he can knock down a 3-pointer, and he is also a tough and physical defender. He can be the heart and soul of a team and if the Sixers can make it happen, then one has to believe that Morey will figure it out on his end.
