Report: Ndamukong Suh, Buccaneers finalizing one-year deal
A day after cutting longtime defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are reportedly bringing in another veteran tackle — likely at a more team-acceptable price.
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN, Ndamukong Suh and the Buccaneers are finalizing a one-year contract.
Suh on the move again
This will be the third team in the last three years for Suh, the No. 2 pick in the 2010 NFL draft.
He spent the 2018 season with the Los Angeles Rams and was credited with 59 total tackles, 4.5 sacks and 19 quarterback hits in 16 regular-season starts. Suh got to the Super Bowl for the first time in his career with the Rams and played a big role in getting Los Angeles past the New Orleans Saints in the NFC title game.
Schefter reported that Suh was interested in playing for Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles. New head coach Bruce Arians hired Bowles, who was fired as New York Jets head coach at the end of the 2018 season.
Back in Florida
Now 32-years-old, Suh was with the Miami Dolphins from 2015-17, and played the first five years of his career with the Detroit Lions.
His contract with the Dolphins at the start of free agency in 2015 — six years, $114 million, $60 million guaranteed — made him the highest-paid defensive player in league history, but Suh did not see all of that money.
The 6-foot-4 Suh is a five-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro selection.
