It appears Joey Bosa is finally back, though it might be a while before we see the Pro Bowler at 100 percent.

The Los Angeles Chargers defensive end is expected to make his season debut on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Chargers reportedly plan to judge Bosa’s snap count based on how his foot, which is still recovering from a bone bruise, feels during the game.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported the news of Bosa’s return:

Bosa had been previously listed as questionable by the Chargers for Sunday’s game.

Joey Bosa set to return to Chargers

Bosa’s return, even if it is limited, figures to give a shot in the arm to a Chargers defense that had already been doing pretty well, with the team at 7-2 and winners of their last six straight games.

The Chargers currently rank eighth in the NFL with 20.7 points allowed per game and tied for 10th in sacks with 26. The Chargers’ other top pass rusher, Melvin Ingram, has posted 5.5 sacks as well as three tackles for loss with offenses able to focus on him as a passing threat.

There might be reason to be skeptical Bosa sees significant work though, as he only returned to practice this week, and only in limited fashion. Those practice reps have apparently gone well enough for the Chargers staff to push Bosa into game action, but the third-year pass rusher isn’t out of the woods, health-wise, just yet.
