Panthers reportedly back out of pursuit for Texans QB Deshaun Watson

The Carolina Panthers still need an answer under center. And that answer, apparently, still won’t be coming out of Houston, Texas.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Panthers will—for about the umpteenth time—drop their pursuit of Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Rapoport notes that the 26-year-old will currently only waive his no-trade clause for the Miami Dolphins.

Even prior to receiving yet another discouraging performance from its current starter in Sam Darnold this past Sunday, Carolina reportedly reentered the fray for the troubled quarterback. That desire to expedite the process of landing a franchise quarterback then seemingly intensified after the embarrassing 25-3 loss to the New York Giants.

Watson, who has not been active all season while facing over 20 allegations of sexual misconduct, will seemingly soon get his wish of being shipped away from the Texans organization. As was thought to already be the case, the Dolphins remain the hands-down favorite to make that happen.
