No. 7 overall pick Allen signs with Bills
Rookie first-round pick Josh Allen has signed a four-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, the team announced Wednesday. Allen's deal is worth just over $20 million and includes a fifth-year option. In 2017, the seventh overall pick -- wide receiver Mike Williams of the Los Angeles Chargers -- signed a four-year, $19.7 million deal. The Bills have never drafted a quarterback higher than the No. 7 overall pick. Allen worked his way into the first-team offense on a timeshare basis in June. Allen's signing means the team has all its draft picks under contract as training camp opens on Wednesday. The Bills traded incumbent starter Tyrod Taylor to the Cleveland Browns and signed Cincinnati Bengals backup AJ McCarron as a free agent before trading up to take Allen in the 2018 NFL Draft. Allen put himself on the NFL radar in 2016 with 3,203 passing yards and 35 total touchdowns. He returned for the 2017 season, but his top two rushers and three top receivers did not, and Allen's production and on-field play dropped. He finished with 1,812 passing yards and 21 total touchdowns in 2017, but missed two games due to a right shoulder injury. --Field Level Media
