At the start of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign, Dele Alli endured poor form. Fans on Twitter referred to him as a “fraud” and a “one-season wonder”.
It’s fair to say that those comments were made with haste.
On Wednesday, the Tottenham midfielder scored his seventh goal in four games and his third consecutive brace. The 20-year-old has scored more goals than any other Premier League midfielder since he made his debut at the start of last season and he is attracting the attention of the biggest-spending club on the planet.
