Just to put this out there right at the top, both managers said they would replay Game 1 precisely as you saw it, from every bullpen move to every intentional walk to every head nod, said they would sleep soundly on this game that had the Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 8-4, with a final flurry that brought chaos to its peak and Wrigley to its feet. It was beautiful, really, in the way that mud and guts and drama bring beauty to anything worth doing, and seeing what's at stake here – the Dodgers have been waiting on this for a good while, the Cubs for four times longer – why not steal home? Why not have the right-handed Joe Blanton pitch to the left-handed Miguel Montero, two outs, bases loaded, eighth inning, tied game, mud flyin'?
