The bar for surprise roster moves was set pretty high on Saturday, what with the Philadelphia Eagles trading Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for a first-round pick. This doesn’t quite meet that level, but it is surprising.

Via multiple reports, the Green Bay Packers are releasing Pro Bowl guard Josh Sitton if they can’t find a trade partner. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky was first to report the news.

A fourth-round pick in 2008, Sitton played in 11 games (with two starts) as a rookie, but had played and started 110 of 112 games since. He is a three-time Pro Bowler, in 2012, 2014 and 2015, and an Associated Press second-team All-Pro in each of the last three years.

It is unclear why the Packers are making the decision to part ways with Sitton, though he did carry a $6.85 million cap hit for this year.

Sitton was tied for the sixth-best guard in the NFL last year according to Pro Football Focus’ grading.
