NHL Three Stars: Goals on parade for Capitals

No. 1 Star: Andre Burakovsky, Washington Capitals

In the Capitals thorough domination of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Burakovsky scored two goals in Washington’s 5-2 victory to force a Game 7 back at home.

No. 2 Star: John Carlson, Washington Capitals

The defenseman recorded a game high seven shots on net and scored a goal. He was second in ice-time on the team and delivered four hits.

No. 3 Star: Jay Beagle, Washington Capitals

No points for Beagle in this one, but his contribution was felt. He led the Caps in faceoff wins going 11 for 14 (73%). He tied Tom Wilson to lead the team with five hits. He was also wrasslin’ with Sidney Crosby and was all smiles.

Honorable Mention: Nicklas Backstrom, T.J. Oshie, and Evgeny Kuznetsov skated away with two-points each. Backstrom scored just 16-seconds into the third period to give the Caps the 3-0 led. Jake Guentzel and Evgeni Malkin scored Pittsburgh’s two goals. Guentzel takes over the playoff goal-scoring lead from Ryan Getzlaf with nine.

Did You Know? After zero Games 7 in the first round, there will be two on Wednesday night. Penguins-Caps at 7:30pm ET and Ducks-Oilers at 10:00pm ET.

Dishonorable Mention: The Penguins were straight up bad for most of the game, showing life in the final three-ish minutes. They didn’t get their second shot on goal until 2:33 remained on the clock in the first period. In total the team put 18 shots on Braden Holtby. Also, Sidney Crosby went headfirst into the boards and didn’t get evaluated for it.
