Felony arrest warrant issued for Alabama DB Deionte Thompson
Alabama defensive back Deionte Thompson is one of four men sought for felony aggravated assault related to an alleged March incident in Crystal Beach, Texas.
According to KBMT-TV, police are investigating the beating of 18-year-old Noah Frillou that left him with several broken bones in his face and a concussion. Per KBMT, police said Frillou was “knocked unconscious after he tried to escape a fight that broke out on the beach.”
In a statement released Friday, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban said Thompson has been “excused” from team activities to “cooperate with law enforcement in this matter.” Alabama is scheduled to play its spring game on Saturday.

Saban said the program is “in the process of gathering all of the facts in Deionte’s situation.”
“Once we have a better understanding of what happened, we will make a determination as to what needs to be done in terms of the appropriate course of action moving forward,” Saban said.
Thompson played in 14 games last season as a redshirt freshman, mainly on special teams. He totaled nine tackles, eight of which came in kickoff coverage.
Thompson was a four-star recruit in the 2015 class and rated as the third-best safety in the country by Rivals.com.
