Does the Premier League only have one world class player?

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has caused a stir by claiming the Premier League only boasts one world-class player: Sergio Aguero of Manchester City. For a league that purports to be the best in the world, this is obviously a troublesome observation.

While some have agreed with Shearer, plenty more potentially world-class names have been thrown into the hat on social media. Of course, the nuance of the debate lies in the definition of the term “world class.” FC Yahoo, however, has suggested a reasonable definition that means Aguero is not the only true superstar of England’s top flight.
