Dodgers upset with Yasiel Puig for posting videos of team party
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder may want to stay off social media for a while. Team president Andrew Friedman said the team was “disappointed” with the recently-demoted outfielder after Puig posted a series of videos showing him partying with his Triple-A teammates on Snapchat.

The videos in question were posted on Puig’s Snapchat account late Monday night. They show Puig with teammates in the clubhouse, and then out for a night on the town in a party bus. The clips, which add up to be nearly three minutes long, contain some NSFW language.
There are two ways to view this situation. On the one hand, there’s nothing scandalous about the clips. Puig is having fun with his new Triple-A teammates. There’s nothing illegal or abnormal going on in the video. It’s just clips of friends having a night out on the town. Every baseball team engages in this type of activity and behavior.
On the other hand, Puig was just demoted partially due to his attitude. While going out and drinking and having a good time with friends in something almost everyone does in college, posting the video, which contains Puig and teammates shouting expletives, doesn’t look good, especially considering the timing.

At the very least, Puig showed some poor judgement posting the videos for all to see. The Dodgers were likely going to watch his behavior carefully following his demotion. By posting this, it makes it look like he doesn’t care what they think.

And again, this has less to do with the fact that grown men are out enjoying themselves, and more to do with the language in the video, including the inappropriate, yet heartfelt, tribute to Harambe. That doesn’t reflect well on the organization.
There were already questions about whether Puig would ever play another game for the Dodgers before these videos emerged. Given Friedman’s comments, it’s looking even more likely the Puig will find himself in a new uniform in the offseason.
