Cowboys' Dak Prescott passed up Kanye tickets to watch some terrible football

Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott is all the rage now, and with that comes perks he likely never could have dreamed of, even when he was a very good college QB and one-time Heisman Trophy candidate. That all has changed dramatically since setting the NFL on fire in the early going.

Already, Prescott — who is 4-1 starting in place of Tony Romo and has yet to throw a pick — has hung out with Snoop Dogg after a game and chilled with 50 Cent before a game. And Prescott had one more strong offer, per Sports Illustrated: tickets to Kanye West’s “San Pablo” tour show that hit Dallas’ American Airlines Arena back on Sept. 22.

Prescott passed on the offer — and he’s a Kanye fan. So why did he stiff-arm the tickets? Well, for one, he needed the rest.

“I wanted to go a little bit,” Prescott said. “But I just think about the perception of it all. And I love my sleep.”

Instead, Prescott and the friend he offered the tickets to (who also declined) sat at his place and watched the New England Patriots stomp the Houston Texans that Thursday night back in Week 3. That game was a total dud. They also flipped back and forth with the Clemson-Georgia Tech game, which was equally lame — a 26-7 Tigers win that was over early.

Kanye can’t even be mad, right? After all, he once said, “Cause it’s like, Yo! Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go.”

It’s not hard to wonder what might have been had the tickets been offered to, say, Johnny Manziel. Fair? Probably not. But imagine Manziel considering the “perception” of anything he did in his social life while he still had an NFL job. Maybe things would be different for him. Or maybe Prescott is just a different dude entirely.

Prescott’s obvious maturity on the field apparently leaks into his off-field life, too. He sounds like something of a homebody from this story, which Cowboys fans have to be absolutely giddy about. The guy just loves football, and he’s willing to punt on Kanye tickets to watch it and also get in bed at a reasonable hour. Apparently getting home after midnight wasn’t something he was willing to do.

Cowboys Nation — does this make you love your precocious rookie QB even more now?
