Best FIFA Football Awards: The real reason the Premier League was ignored

Global soccer turned its attention to Zurich on Monday for the renamed Best FIFA Football Awards: the glitzy gala that used to reveal the Ballon D’or winner brought recognition to Puskas winner Mohd Faiz Subri for his stunning free kick, manager of 2015 Claudio Ranieri and Best Players Carli Lloyd and Cristiano Ronaldo.

But the most interesting element of the evening was the democratically-voted FIFPro Team of the Year. Once again, it was devoid of any Premier League talent—but that’s not necessarily because the Premier League is less talented.
