NBA players embrace Derrick Rose, light up Twitter on his 50-point night

Derrick Rose’s monster night for the Minnesota Timberwolves culminated in a cathartic moment for the NBA veteran.

After dropping a career-high 50 points in a thrilling win over the Utah Jazz, Rose was in tears. It was a game that few expected from the former MVP whose career has been derailed by faulty knees that knocked him down from his superstar status.

NBA players stoked for Rose’s big night

It was a moment that Rose appreciated and basked in for himself and one that drew an outpouring of applause from his fellow NBA players.

Perhaps Dwyane Wade summed up Rose’s night best.

But he wasn’t the only one who took notice on Wednesday.

Jimmy Butler, source of all things contentious in Minnesota lately, stopped by Rose’s post-game news conference for a shout-out during his first appearance Wednesday night.

This, of course, was after Rose’s teammates swarmed him immediately after the buzzer.

And in the locker room.

Much of the rest of the NBA congratulated Rose via Twitter.

For veterans who have played alongside and against Rose, there was genuine love for seeing the three-time All-Star back on a pedestal. They know the potential he flashed in his all-too brief prime.

Wednesday was a reminder of how much talent he has.
