LSU baseball catcher Alex Milazzo decides to return for 2024 season

The picture at catcher for LSU baseball in 2024 has become completely clear.

Shortly following fellow Tiger catcher Hayden Travinski's announcement of his return to Baton Rouge for one more year, Alex Milazzo told Tiger Rag Radio Tuesday night of his intention to continue his LSU baseball career next season.

The four-year player played in 53 games for the NCAA championship-winning Tigers, starting 25 of those, posting a career-high .289 batting average.

Jay Johnson will have a full trio of catchers at his disposal with the return of Travinski, Milazzo while also having Brady Neal in the fold.

With Milazzo, it's unclear when he'll be cleared to resume baseball activities but it's likely he'll he ready to go by the time the 2024 season opens. In the national title deciding game three against Florida last month, Milazzo broke his leg running home during a play at the plate.
