Knicks star Charles Oakley cheated a Vegas casino in poker, court documents claim
More details have emerged regarding the arrest of Charles Oakley’s arrest at a Las Vegas casino last month, revealing the former New York Knicks star allegedly cheated three times during a poker game.
Oakley allegedly altered his bet during a hand on three occasions, increasing or decreasing his wager depending on whether he was likely to win or lose, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
Surveillance video of his Ultimate Texas Hold ‘Em game at Cosmopolitan reportedly confirmed his alleged attempts to defraud the hotel and casino. According to the documents, Oakley removed a $100 chip from the table on one occasion upon realizing his pair of fours was going to lose to the dealer’s two pair in, and then twice added chips to his wager when he was in a more advantageous position.
Charles Oakley was arrested during NBA summer league
Oakley was arrested on July 8 and initially faced a felony charge that carried a six-year prison sentence. The charge was reduced earlier this week to misdemeanor disorderly conduct, per TMZ.
Oakley was cleared of assault charges at MSG in February
Criminal charges were dropped against Oakley in February, a year after he and security for Madison Square Garden were involved in an altercation at a Knicks game. As part of a plea deal, he was cleared of the misdemeanor assault, harassment and trespassing charges after avoiding arrest for six months.
