Justyn Ross’ injury woes continue
Former Clemson wide receiver Justyn Ross can’t seem to catch a break.
After dealing with multiple injuries at Clemson, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid announced on Friday that Ross underwent foot surgery and will be on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list for the start of training camp.
Ross previously had foot surgery in November, forcing him to miss the last three games of Clemson’s season.
“It was a little bit off of the surgery he had before. It wasn’t functioning quite the way (he wanted),” Reid said. “It was bothering him. It wasn’t working quite the way he wanted it, so they went in and re-did it. And we’re hoping this works out well.”
Reid said the injury will take time to heal, and there is no current timetable for Ross’ return.
Injury concerns are what ultimately caused NFL teams not to draft Ross, who signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent.
He missed the entire 2020 season due to a congenital fusion in his spine that required major surgery.
Still, he returned to the field in 2021, when he led the Tigers in receiving yards, finishing with 46 receptions for 514 yards and three touchdowns.
