Jon Jones arrested in Las Vegas, charged with alleged misdemeanor battery domestic violence

Former UFC champion Jon Jones has again been accused of violence outside of the octagon, this time in Las Vegas.

According to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department, Jones was arrested at 5:45 a.m. Friday morning on charges of alleged misdemeanor battery domestic violence and injuring and tampering with a vehicle.

No other details were immediately available.

Jones previously faced a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from an April 2019 incident at a strip club in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In March 2020, Albuquerque police arrested him for alleged aggravated-DWI and negligent use of a firearm.

Jones, 34, avoided jail time in 2015 after a hit-and-run in which he left the scene of an accident. Reebok dropped him as a sponsor in 2015. UFC stripped his light heavyweight title three separate times – as a disciplinary response and for failing banned substance tests – before he regaining it once more in December 2018.

UFC still ranks Jones as the top pound-for-pound fighter in the sport despite not fighting since he defeated Dominick Reyes in February 2020.

In Las Vegas to celebrate his first fight against Alexander Gustaffson from 2013 being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, Jones told reporters Thursday he planned on returning to UFC sometime in 2022 as a heavyweight.
